This weekend is the Plein Air and More festival in Cannon Beach, and a highlight will be the showing of Ann’s collaborative project with artists Michael Orwick, Arnie Chupp, and Deb Steele; The Trio Project at Dragonfire Gallery.
Learn more about the collaborative project in this post, and visit Dragonfire June 28-30th to see the show in person!
To recap, this collaboration features four artists all creating pieces based on the same three inspirations:
This landscape photo (chosen by oil painter Michael Orwick):
This bonsai tree (chosen by metal sculptor Arnie Chupp):
and this wood carving (chosen by glass artist Ann Cavanaugh):
The gallery exhibit showcases pieces created by the artists, grouped by inspiration piece.
While Ann was working with her inspiration piece (a woodcarving created by her mother, pictured with the piece above), she tried many techniques and colors, creating a diverse collection of pieces all related to the original inspiration. Many of them are on display at Dragonfire, including the fragmented Pate de Verre pieces seen on the wall at left below.
The official opening of the Trio Project is at the artist’s reception hosted by Dragonfire on Saturday, June 29th from 4:00-6:00 pm, with live music and food. The artists will be present to discuss their pieces, their inspiration, and the experience of collaborating with other artists in this unique project.
This show can be found at Dragonfire Gallery, 123 S Hemlock Street, Ste 106, Cannon Beach, OR 97110. Please stop by and say hi to Ann and the other artists this weekend, who will be visiting and demonstrating at the gallery!
